When the sun is out and warm weather is finally here to stay, the last thing you should worry about is home maintenance. Use our quick summer home maintenance guide to get the hard work out of the way at the beginning of the season. Even if the weather is already pushing 90 degrees, there’s no need to worry—most of these tasks are indoors!
- Oil garage-door opener and chain, garage door, and all door hinges
- Clean kitchen exhaust fan hood and filter
- Seal tile grout
- Prune trees and shrubs
- Clean out your garage
- Check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
- Clean out sink disposal by grinding ice cubes and flushing with hot water and baking soda
- Inspect electrical cords for wear
- Replace air filters throughout your home
- Dust ceiling blade fans
- Wash the windows
- Check for outdoor leaks
- Inspect caulking around windows and doors to prevent bugs from entering your home
- Inspect window and door screens for holes or tears
